Working with Delegate Forbes, Illuminate Maryland is conceptualizing legislation to allow students to earn state-recognized service hours through a financial literacy course. This initiative expands access to practical economic education while modernizing service learning opportunities.

Clean Energy Building Codes

Illuminate Maryland collaborated with local advocates and organizations to advance clean energy building codes in Howard County through the successful passage of CB24-2025. The organization led a student petition campaign with over 130 signatures in support of building electrification, prompting engagement with county council members and key stakeholders. These efforts were featured in Maryland Matters in the article, "Howard County needs to do the right thing and discourage natural gas in new construction." Illuminate Maryland also organized student outreach under the Electrify Our Future coalition and participated in public testimony and policy roundtables to support the legislation.
